How Do Online Vehicle Auctions Work?

By Niko - June 20th, 2012 04:28 AM

If you are interested in online vehicle auctions and have always wondered how they work, we have some answers for you!  At Salvage World, we have a very simple four step process:

  1. Register – here you sign up for membership, make a refundable security deposit of $400 and receive access information via your email address.
  2. Bid – you log on to SalvageWorld.net as a member and search for salvage or damaged vehicles for sale.  We then bid on your behalf at the live auction.
  3. Paying the invoice – if your bid is successful, you will receive a confirmation email from Salvage World and an invoice from GSA auctions or SalvageWorld.net.  You pay for the salvage or damaged vehicle within two business days.
  4. Having your vehicle shipped – you order transportation service through GSA auctions or SalvageWorld.net and your vehicle is picked up from the insurance company facility.

You may be wondering if you can attend the auction rather than bidding through an online auction.  Unfortunately, this is not possible as the actual auction is not open to the public.  However, through Salvage World, you take part in preliminary bidding, which means that we present your bids during a live auction, a sealed bid auction or a direct fax offer to the insurance adjuster.  Since we have all the required licenses and registrations, we can buy any vehicle for you within the U.S., even in states that don’t allow automobile dealers to bid.

One of the many advantages of our model is that it is completely transparent.  You enter the absolute maximum you are willing to pay for a salvage vehicle.  When we bid at the live auction, we try to buy the vehicle as cheaply as possible and will only bid against other buyers up to your maximum amount.  If yours is the winning bid, even if it comes in for less than the maximum, you pay exactly the winning price.
For more information, such as tips on how to place realistic bids or a thorough explanation of our fees and refund policy, please contact us.  We’re happy to answer any questions!
